What is our Techtrails STEM & Future Skills Program all about?

Students participating in techtrails at Bunbury Senior High School

Techtrails is a half day metro or full day regional area STEM incursion for Western Australian secondary schools. Together with the school we determine the most appropriate STEM and industry focus themes for the particular student cohort. We then leverage our extensive industry networks to source some of Western Australia’s most inspirational professionals and entrepreneurs to talk to students about their career journey, what their job is actually like and how students can turn their passion into a successful future career.

Our aim is to role model, showcase and inspire!

How does a Techtrails work on the day?

After an opening keynote presentation to the entire student and teacher cohort, students break off into smaller pod-size groups of about 15-18 each, to hear STEM industry professionals share their personal ‘techtrail' stories. How they came to choose their careers, pursued their passions and used their STEM skills to create exciting and meaningful career paths. We usually have 6 to 8 different STEM professionals speak to the students. During each pod-session, students hear a short presentation and then have time to interact with the speakers, ask questions.
